Recent developments like the Cass Report, the recent UK Supreme Court ruling, and the upcoming adult review (along with EHRC guidance) have created an unpredictable environment for transsexual people in the United Kingdom, leading to increasing uncertainty about the legal, medical, political, and social aspects of transitioning.

The country is following repressive, non-democratic nations in preventing access to essential healthcare and living dignified lives. Access to hormone replacement therapy is being curtailed, and waitlists for surgery remain at an all-time high. We can choose to either stay in this country or leave, but - but while we are here it would be a shame if we did not make a serious effort to to coordinate an efficient, organised response against these fait accomplis.

We want to bring together trans people in this country and achieve the following objectives:

Gather and disseminate essential, useful information about the rapidly changing legal, medical, political, and social landscape to transgender people and policymakers. Set up effective mutual aid in order to enable people reduce unequal access to medical care and other essentials which would improve the quality of life of trans people in the United Kingdom.

Effective transsexualism is a single-focus movement. We believe that much of past and present trans activism has been ineffective at stemming the growing tide of transphobia - we want to carve our own space so that we are taken seriously not just by other trans people, but by avoiding alienating cis allies who and making sure they feel comfortable engaging with us.

Fellow trans people and our allies, we have a long fight ahead of us. If you’d be interested in linking up with us and making a big difference to countless lives, please come to one of our events at Newspeak House or contact us below.
